Role and Impact
In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, King County's Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) was on the frontline, driving various life-saving and community resilience projects. My role was to design an interactive timeline that encapsulates this monumental effort and to create a lasting digital testament to our community's resilience.
Deliverables
Designed an engaging, interactive timeline featuring over 100 points of interest.
Each point included interactive popups with context copy, photos, in-app video, and links to relevant blogs and press releases.
Developed a visually consistent and engaging aesthetic through custom-colored and edited icons and a signature color palette.
Communications
To maximize the timeline's reach and impact, I led a comprehensive communications strategy:
Unveiled the timeline to staff with a personal message from the Director.
Promoted the timeline on Cultivating Connections, the DCHS human services blog.
Created Facebook and Twitter posts on King County platforms.
Published and shared publicly on Visme galleries.
Incorporated the timeline in the King County employee newsletter, reaching over 15,000 staff.

Reflection: “This interactive timeline was more than a design project—it served as a tangible tribute to the heroic efforts of the DCHS team during an extraordinarily demanding time. By spotlighting the array of projects spearheaded by the department, the timeline became an essential resource for the King County staff and the public, commemorating the community's resilience. It also played a crucial role in boosting team morale, allowing everyone to reflect on their achievements amidst the crisis.”
